Let's get organized

'21st Century learning' is the focus of this collaborative effort. The image to the left was chosen to reflect the underlying theme of 'Diversity'. I've forwarded Dr. M the email addresses she requested. Our goals will become better focused after she forwards the assignment.

In the time being, I urge you to reply to this with any thoughts regarding the assignment or at the very least send out a 'hello world' message proving you've found this place.

Tom,
This is an excellent way to start our assignment. The blog that you have developed provides a forum for us to address the complexities of diversity and technology. Now I am excited about the work and look forward to contributing to an open dialog on our subject. Perhaps from this dialog we may develop greater insight in our topic.

I just read our assignment. Our task is clear we have to explore what experts and students say are needed to meet the needs of 21 century students. We have to demonstrate what changes are needed, why change is needed and what that change will look like.

The topic that our group is doing is project based learning. We need to become experts in this area. We also have to assign roles for each member in our group. Tom I think you should be the blog manager( this is a required role). We also need a content expert and a technical expert. Rod and I will have to decide what we would each want to do. I really do not have a preference.

I would like to suggest that we create a timeline for this project and we each approach this subject with a specific intent. What do you all think?

Thanks, Chris.
I've read the assignment and am a little confused about the ultimate deliverables in the context of the 'process' portion of the assignment: item 1 "Each group member will have at least two separate roles, content and technical. Discuss who will be in charge of what."

Yet we broke into groups to take on two tasks (one content and one technical). You, Rob and I own 'Project-based learning' and 'Project Manager & Blog initiator' respectively. The note in the process section regarding using 'jigsaw' leads me to conclude that this blog should serve as a central repository and sounding board area for our whole class and not just the group.

It doesn't make sense to me to create a blog for each of six 'content expert' areas when having them all on a single blog would help support the 'jigsaw' concept.

Further, the 'technical expert' section of the assignment consists of five different deliverables, only one of which is a Blog.

That said, I guess I'm taking on the 'Project Manager' role by fiat and modifying this blog to be all inclusive for the class. Hopefully I can hit all the requirements before class starts Sat. morning.

If any group feels they need their own blog, please clear it through me first. I thought I heard Dr. M say 'only one Blog'. I can set a link from this one to yours if you feel so inclined. I'll hit everyone with a blast e-mail to use this site to move the project along with links to required readings and reastions spaces.

You have done a great job in laying out the whole class assignment. I see Chris is a bit confused - there are two components to the assignment - 1 is content; the other is technical. That's what it takes to integrate technology into instruction, but we are exploring new was to deliver content with the technology in hopes that our students (your students) get more excited and learn better/more.

Thank you for the clarity. I now see that we have two components to this assignment

Hi Tom,
Can my "Anonymous" blog be deleted? I resent it w/my name.
Thanks in advance!
Janet

Tom,
Awesome job on the site. I will put some hours into this assignment tonight and contact you with any questions, concerns, and/or information. I realize it must have both content and technical attributes - I hope to include both. Talk to you soon. Great job!
